Here are our ten favorite new UK artists to listen to.

1. SL

Drill music is taking over the British music scene. To dive into it, start with SL. Despite being a teenager, he’s coming out with some of the most impressive rhymes in the game.

Octavian burst onto London’s music scene last year. However, it wasn’t until Drake was spotted singing along to one of his tunes on Instagram that he really started to blow up.

3. Bassette

If you’re looking for something more chilled, try Bassette. She’s being praised as the next Amy Winehouse, but her style has more of an R&B vibe.

4. Col3trane

If you like Frank Ocean, you’ll love Coltrane.

Check out his most popular track, Penelope. It starts out slow and smooth, but takes a completely different turn halfway through.

5. Steel Bangelz

If you’re already into British artists, you’ve probably inadvertently heard Steel Bangelz already. He’s produced some of the best tracks in recent UK rap.

6. Big Joanie

The punk scene is still alive and well in the UK, and Big Joanie are using it to rage against the patriarchy.

This all-female group describes themselves as “The Ronettes filtered through 80’s DIY and Riot Grrrl”. If their cover of TLC’s No Scrubs doesn’t win you over, nothing will.

7. Skepta

You’ve probably already heard Skepta on A$AP Rocky’s new record, Praise the Lord. If that’s the first you’ve heard of him, get ready to delve into the rest of his catalog.

He’s got plenty of grime anthems where that one came from. Start with Shut Down.

8. IAMDBB

IAMDBB produces a mix of jazz, R&B and the best UK female rap out there.

She was given third place in the BBC’s Sound of 2018 awards, and has been blowing up ever since. For a taste of what she has to offer, check out Shade, which she wrote and produced aged just 21.

For top-shelf beats, look no further than Giggs. His collaboration with Nigerian artist Mr. Eazi on a track called London Town is superb. What could be a better example of British Hip Hop?

AJ Tracey is a rapper hailing from West London. His music is a combination of grime, dancehall, and electronica.
